![]() The Glade of Dreams is once again under threat from the nefarious Mr. Conjured from the magnificent moonbeams of the second summer solstice, woven together by us, the nymphs, destined to preserve the equilibrium of the sacred universe, the one we call: Rayman!" – Betilla the Fairy, Origins "Have you seen the new guy? Things are getting weird around here." Like of course you need a controller to play at more than the most rudimentary level.Lore Champion of the Glade of Dreams "Long ago the Primordial Forest, deep and mysterious, witnessed the birth of a man… a vegetable… no, no, no: a thingamajig. Brawl and smash, have even more movement options and vertically, so the idea that brawl would use more restricted controls is just stupid. Keyboard just sounds like "babies first fighting game"Įven traditional fighting games, which have significantly less movement than brawl or smash, are played with a traditional joystick and button layout, or on controller. A control stick literally gives me all the angles to move and attack where I want. I could wipe the floor against anyone on keyboard. Im just trying to understand how even the idea of using a keyboard and mouse is even a thing at all for brawl, especially competitively. Are you trying to say that Brawlhalla doesn't require full 360 degrees of movement that only a control stick can offer? Are the controls are so rudimentary that wasd can really be a replacement for a control stick, because if so, that's sad. controllers have many buttons right next to one another. Your argument that keyboard allows for faster inputs is just wrong. To compare the two is doable but generally moot considering they're different games that require different types of technique and understanding of game knowledge. They both share a genre in that they are a 2d fighter and that's where the similarities end, just as how smash and brawlhalla are both platform brawlers, that's where the similarities end. It's like comparing Skullgirls to mortal Kombat. As for whether brawlhalla is more or less technical than smash is a whole other thing. Keyboard is also inherently faster while lacking a little bit of control, the ability to effectively press two buttons near simultaneously gives a depth of control to movement that controller does not have, though once again, I am not going to shit on any specific method of controls, it's all up to preference in the end. Mouse is used to input things like attacks and depends on what else that specific player binds to it. I also don't know what you mean by that it's an imprecise form of control. It honestly depends on what your preference is. Some play strictly keyboard and some play controller. I'm just looking for someone to tell me it's ok, that of course top level brawl players use Xbox or PS4 controllers to play. That's where control sticks are king, aka controllers. But in platform fighters, the screen stays relatively still and only zooms in and out of the action, so a mouse doesn't work. Idk if brawl is just that much less technical than smash that you only would need the 4 directions (or if you somehow use the mouse as a oss.) to get by, but again, there's NO WAY that it could be better than a controller for precise movement and fast inputs.įps games sure, you're doing all the precision with the mouse, the screen moves around your mouse movements. I'm having a hard time believing it honestly.Ĭoming from smash where even the idea of using anything other than a gamecube controller, or an Xbox controller if on netplay without an adapter, is just so laughable it's almost not even funny, I just can't see how 360 degrees of movement on a control stick with well placed buttons and triggers is worse than a flat keyboard with just up down left right lol. To think you would try to out play someone with such a clunky and imprecise input method for a platform fighter. If so, that's both adorable and hilarious. Brawlhalla buddy of mine was telling me that pros play on keyboard ¿and mouse lol?
